About the Artist

Janice Harding Owens was born in Rock Castle County, Ky., where she lives with her husband, willow furniture-maker Ron Owens, and and raised seven children. She’s been painting since 1989, and was once often seen in her kitchen with a baby in one hand and a paintbrush in the other.

The beautiful rural are where she lives inspires Janice, but her paintings are based on memory and imagination. Her work is popular with collectors from coast to coast. She’s received commissions from Governor Patton and the Brown-Forman corporation in Louisville, among others. Her paintings are in the permanent collection of the Kentucky Folk Art Center in Morehead.
