About the Artist

Judy Wells, a native of Western Kentucky, lives on a beautiful farm just outside Lexington, KY, where she also has her painting studio. After earning her B.F.A. from Western Kentucky University, she has been active in many artistic arenas including acting as gallery coordinator at the Court House Gallery in Glasgow, KY, teaching painting and art history at Bellarmine College in Louisville, KY and serving on the board of the Headley Whitney Museum in Lexington. In 1991, Wells received her M.F.A. from the University of Kentucky.

Artist's Statement

My art is about pleasure. Colors found in the landscape along with patterns of light and shadow provide subject matter for the pleasure of applying paint to canvas. Hopefully then pleasure is passed along to the viewer.
