November 21 - December 20, 2014

Gallery Hop Reception November 21, 5-8 PM

The Ann Tower Gallery is pleased to present our annual Holiday Exhibition, an exciting group show with a lot of new work, both large and small by all our favorite artists including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, ceramics, sculpture and folk art. We welcome Robert Shay, a professor at the University of Kentucky in the School of Visual Arts who will exhibit an installation comprised of twenty-one beautiful propeller-like ceramic elements arranged on a wall. Lina Tharsing will have ten small new "Experiments in Visual Science" paintings.

In addition to the Money's whimsical carved animals and ornaments, we'll have Patience Bottles by Steve Moseley.  Moseley fills empty bourbon bottles with satirical scenes carved in wood that address Kentucky basketball, golf and religion.

Big changes are coming to our building. This will be our last exhibition on both floors of the gallery. The Parks and Recreation Division of the City took over the management and booking of events and plays for the Downtown Arts Center from LexArts on July 1, 2014.  As of Jan. 1, 2015, we will consolidate the Ann Tower Gallery to the second floor of our current space where we will continue our mission of exhibiting and selling the best art with Kentucky connections that we can find. Parks and Rec will open their own city gallery on the first floor to enhance their programming of theater performances and events at the DAC and to present other artists. The spiral staircase will be removed and the floors will be separated, but the public will be able to walk up the lobby stairs or take the elevator to see us.  We hope these changes will bring more people into the building and will be good for everyone.

Due to construction, we will be open by appointment only, from Dec. 21 - Jan. 16, the first Gallery Hop of 2015. Please don't hesitate to call for a private viewing or last minute shopping during this time because we'll be around moving and building.

Please save Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 7:30 for our Holiday Party!
